The Silicon Valley tech giant, Apple, is gearing up to unveil a range of products at its annual Apple Event tonight, commencing at 10:30 pm Indian Standard Time (IST).
Event Highlights
At the forefront of this highly anticipated event, Apple may shed light on its upcoming operating systems, notably iOS 14. However, notably absent from the lineup is the launch of a new iPhone.
Expected Product Launches
Apple enthusiasts can anticipate the debut of several products, including the long-awaited Apple AirTags, alongside new offerings such as the iPad Air 4, iPad 8, Apple Watch Series 6, and the Apple Watch SE. The event can be streamed live through the company’s official website, YouTube channel, or the Apple TV app.
Apple AirTags Debut
Among the anticipated releases, Apple is set to introduce its inaugural Apple AirTags, designed to assist users in tracking misplaced items with their iPhones. These tile-like Bluetooth trackers can be attached to keys, wallets, or any commonly misplaced items and are expected to integrate seamlessly with Apple’s “Find My” mobile application.
Cheaper Apple Watch and Brand New Series 6
Rumors suggest that Apple will not only unveil the new Apple Watch Series 6 but also introduce a more affordable variant, dubbed the Apple Watch SE. The latest iteration of the Apple Watch is anticipated to feature a faster processor and a blood oxygen monitor, a particularly relevant addition given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
New iPad 8 and iPad Air 4
Apple is also poised to announce the iPad Air 4th generation and the iPad 8th generation at the Apple Event 2020. The iPad Air 4 is expected to boast an A14 processor and will be available in variants of 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB, with a starting price of $649 (approximately ₹ 50,000). Meanwhile, the new iPad generation will be powered by the A12X processor and is expected to retain the lightning port.
No New iPhone
In a departure from previous events, Apple will not unveil a new iPhone this year due to disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Apple CEO, Tim Cook, acknowledged potential delays during the company’s earnings call, indicating that the iPhone 12 release might be postponed by approximately a month, with expectations of availability by October, as reported by Bloomberg.
