Tech behemoth Apple has rolled out a new beta firmware for its AirPods to developers following the launch of iOS 16.1 beta 4 earlier this week.
Reported by 9to5Mac, the latest AirPods beta firmware bears the build number ‘5B5040’.
Apple has updated the AirPods menu within the Settings app with iOS 16, now including a section that provides details about the most recent firmware.
The previous AirPods firmware update, coinciding with the release of iOS 16, introduced the Personalized Spatial Audio feature and improved Automatic Switching.
According to Apple, after enabling the pre-release Beta Firmware option, AirPods may take up to 24 hours to complete the update process.
The firmware upgrade is now available for AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro 2, and AirPods Max.
Earlier, users of first-generation AirPods Pro and AirPods Max noticed that the Adaptive Transparency feature was activated for these devices with the release of iOS 16.1 beta 3 last week.
However, Apple removed the option with the rollout of iOS 16.1 beta 4, clarifying that it was a bug.
The Adaptive Transparency feature assists in reducing specific sounds while still allowing users to hear crucial ambient sounds around them.
