Amazon has unveiled the latest iteration of its Echo Dot smart speaker, the 5th Gen Echo Dot, featuring improved audio, Ultrasound Motion Detection, temperature sensor, and tap gesture controls in India.

The new Echo Dot is available in three color options: black, blue, and white. It can be purchased from March 2 to 4 across various online and offline retail outlets at an introductory price of Rs 4,999.

Users can interact with Alexa using voice commands in English, Hindi, and Hinglish, offering greater accessibility and convenience.

“We have enhanced the audio quality and introduced motion detection and temperature sensors to the smart speaker. Customers can now enjoy new functionalities for a seamlessly integrated experience, where technology seamlessly integrates into their surroundings—like stepping into a room and witnessing it light up magically,” stated Parag Gupta, Director and Country Manager for Amazon Devices India.

The 5th Gen Echo Dot promises clearer vocals and improved bass performance compared to its predecessors. It incorporates an accelerometer that enables tap gesture controls, allowing users to pause and resume music, dismiss timers, or end Alexa-to-Alexa calls by simply tapping the top of the device.

Equipped with Ultrasound Motion Detection, users can automate their daily routines by setting up smart home actions such as activating compatible lights or playing music upon entering a room.

Additionally, the new Echo Dot includes an in-built temperature sensor capable of monitoring room temperature. This feature enables users to create helpful routines like automatically adjusting compatible AC settings based on temperature changes, ensuring optimal comfort throughout the day.
